Finland's SRV sells stake in future plant under Rosatom project

HELSINKI, Feb 4 (PRIME) -- Finland's construction holding SRV has sold its stake in Fennovoima that builds the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant under a project of Russian nuclear power corporation Rosatom, the company said in a statement on Friday.

The financial liabilities equaling 1.8% in Fennovoima were sold to the affiliates of Rosatom. The deal is to be closed after a permit of Finland's authorities expected in 2022.

"Unlike other Fennovoima's owners, SRV is neither a big energy user, nor a power company, but the company entered into the project in 2015 specifically from the construction business viewpoint,” the company said quoting CEO Saku Sipola.

Rusatom Overseas, a unit of Rosatom, and Fennovoima signed the contract to build the plant in 2013. Rusatom Overseas is to deliver a 1,200-megawatt reactor to the plant.

Russia plans to invest a ruble equivalent of 2.4 billion euros, or a maximum of 150 billion rubles, in the project and included it on the list of sustainable infrastructure projects.
